July 31, 2008 - The missionaries in our district went to the Zoo on Preparation Day

It was really fun to see the little baby tiger. It's mother rejected him, and he is being raised by the zoo personnel.
There are two brand new baby elephants at the Zoo. The Zoo keepers were working to get them up and going.

Elder & Sister Chambers, Sister Sonderegger, Swain and Yates in back. The children from a member family that met us there. Elder Martinez, Whitmill, Myrick and Barker.

July 27, 2008 Baptism of Deji

Today Ayodeji Oluwagbemiga Kayode (in other words Deji) was baptized. We have helped to teach him several times. He is an incredible young man who started talking about going out with the missionaries and going on a mission himself before he was baptized. Everyone just loves Deji. Elder and Sister Chambers with Deji
Sister Yates, Swain and Sonderegger with Deji and Hugo Bishop who baptized him.
He's the man! Deji always makes everyone laugh, and he usually has a smile as big as his face. He said that there wasn't room to tuck his shirt in. We've been so excited for this day, and Deji is ready to go to work serving wherever he's asked.

Sister Yates, Swain, and Sonderegger were having a great time with Elder Chambers. They had him wear the birthday hat all during district meeting. They had put up a bunch of decorations in the Institute to celebrate his birthday which was the day before.
This was our first meeting with our new zone leader Elder Whitmill. He is from Ammon and knows several of our friends from Ammon - Welkers, Waites, and Neiders are some of them. He seems like a great young missionary.
