June 17 to 25 Beth and Paul were so happy to have the Leifson's and Taylor's come to visit. We had a great time and saw a lot of things.

One of the first things we did with the family was to take a
Just Ducky tour. This is the bus/boat we went on. It went
on the rivers, and on the streets of the city. We went past
Heinz Stadium - where the Steelers play, and PNC park where
the Pirates play. The buildings in downtown are very high
and many are really beautiful.

The kids waiting by the fountain at Station Square waiting for

the Just Ducky Tour to begin.

We were on the Ohio River in a silly looking boat like this one
that we took a picture of along with the city
The kids who wanted to steer the boat were given the opportunity
Alexis having her turn
Branson and Dallin were happy to drive
Adam and Joseph - always inseparable - drove together
Jackie and Carter were very grown up to steer a boat/bus.
We looked at the beautiful city of Pittsburgh from above, from the
water, and from the streets and bridges.
On the steps of the Heinz Chapel in Oakland where Beth and
Paul serve.

Rob, Lynne and Samuel at the top of the Duquesne Incline. This is how we kept

track of Samuel.

We had a great time at the Zoo. Grandpa and Samuel loved
getting acquainted again.

At the zoo - waiting for a demonstration to start.
Beth and Paul on steps to the apartment
Does this look like wall to wall people? We did fine even with

the limited space.

Pres. and Sis. Francis (our outgoing Mission Pres.) were
speaking at an Institute Activity. They asked Dallin to help
them with their talk about putting on the Armor of God. He
was a good sport, and took it very seriously.

Dallin in the Whole Armor.
Playing games at the Institute was great fun. Here the family is

playing a game we call scrud on the pool table.

Troy, Alexis, Rob and Michelle are playing foozeball. Ryan

and Carter loved the air hockey.

The family wanted to go swimming so bad, but the weather
hadn't been too warm - it was very nice for walking around. It
warmed up nicely one day, but the water was really cold.

Samuel showing off in someone's goggles.
I think Troy looks like he knows how cold it is going to be.
The kids spent more time on the warm cement than in the water.
Branson, Joseph, Adam, Ryan, Samuel, Michelle, Alexis, Carter,
Dallin and Jackie on the balcony of the missionary apartment in Pittsburgh.
Dallin, Branson, Adam and Joseph ready to eat at 5 Guys.
Wait - this doesn't look right - Samuel pushing Dallin in Beth's wheelchair that we got so we could still do the walking stuff. I (Beth) was the least tired of anyone, but my foot would not do all of the walking.

June 12 to 15 2008

June 12, We took Sister Yates and Sister Swain up the Duquesne Incline to the lookout over the beautiful city, rivers and bridges.
From the lookout on Mt. Washington at the top of the Duquesne Incline. That is one of the tram cars that come up the mountain with passengers. It was on the way down that I hurt my foot.

June 8 and 9 at Kane Pennsylvania - posted June 12

Kane Manor and the vans that 6 couples drove together in to get to Kane.

June 8 and 9 the Couples in the mission drove up to Kane, PA for a couples conference. Most of us went in two vans from Pittsburgh. It was about 2 1/2 hours up in the beautiful Allegheny Forest. Colonel and then General Kane was a wonderful friend to the LDS church, and this is the town that he built. The mansion was build as a home for his family. It is now a beautiful bed and breakfast called Kane Manor where we stayed.
Kane Chapel - It is really beautiful. The church owns it now, and it is used for a chapel. It was build by General Kane's family, and was used as a Presbyterian church for a long time. You can see the grave of Gen. Kane between the doors.
A statue of General Kane that the Church had erected. It is in the yard in front of the Chapel.
The ceiling is made of local black cherry wood, and it looks like an upside down ship. There is a pipe organ, but it is an old pump organ!

WOW! is all we could say! It looks like Back to the Future.
